Project Management Course Venues

26 January, 2015

Although Velopi Project Management was founded in Cork back on 2007, we have been aware from the start that we need to cater for a nationwide audience and, to that end, we have adopted a three-pronged strategy: Firstly, we provide public PMP® exam preparation courses in four venues nationwide – Cork, Dublin, Galway and Limerick. Secondly, we provide entry-level one and two day project management courses through the Skillnet networks and finally we provide in-house training for our larger clients.

For our PMP® project management courses in Dublin, we generally use the Camden Court Hotel in the heart of Dublin, just up the road from the National Concert Hall. For directions and course dates, please visit our web-page. However, if that is not available, our contingency plan (see we practice risk management too) is to use the Aisling Hotel, Parkgate Street. This is near the Phoenix Park and is convenient to Euston Station, being just across the river. My wife’s name being Aisling has nothing at all to do with it.

Our PMP® project management courses in Cork are held in the Cork Airport Hotel. Parking is plentiful and the sound proofing is amazing – jets land and take off next door and cannot be heard. Course dates and directions are available on the web.

In Galway, we use the Clayton Hotel in Ballybrit. This is very convenient to Galway’s high-tech industries and is a nice, modern venue with great facilities. Our four and five day public PMP® courses prove very popular in this attractive venue. Again, see the web-site for details.

We are a bit more mobile in Limerick. Originally we used the South Court Hotel in Raheen exclusively. This is close to the Raheen Business Park where you will find companies like Dell and Analog Devices (or ADI as they call themselves now). However, more recently, we have moved to the other side of town and have held course in the Kilmurry Lodge and the Castletroy Park Hotels in Castletroy. These are convenient to the Plassey Technological Park, home to many exciting high-tech ventures. Check the Limerick PMP® web-page for where the next course will be.

Note that these same venues are used for our Public Program Management Professional (PgMP)® courses. These are held less frequently than the PMP® courses but are ideal for experienced project managers who want a better understanding of what happens at the top levels of the company.

If you opt for a more basic introduction to project management (ideal if you are managing small projects and want sufficient knowledge to apply a lightweight process to these), then check out your local Skillnet. There is a good chance that Velopi Project Management will be listed under the project management offerings.

Alternatively, feel free to contact us about in-house training. This is an attractive alternative for larger companies where there are many people who need training in project management. Although our standard project management courses are based on the Project Management Institute’s Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), we can adapt our materials to use company-specific templates and terminology. Note however that this adaptation is only available for our one and two day introductory courses and for our Qualifications and Quality Ireland (QQI) certification courses. Our PMP® exam preparation courses have to follow the PMBOK® Guide terminology in order for the students to pass the PMP® exam.

For more details of these courses and venues, please visit our training page, or contact us directly.
