Velopi is a registered/recognised provider under former FETAC processes.

QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland) is an independent Irish State agency responsible for promoting quality and accountability in education and training services in Ireland.

All Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) awards are quality assured and are nationally and internationally recognised.

QQI is responsible for the external quality assurance of further and higher education and training and validates programmes and makes awards for certain providers in these sectors.

QQI is also responsible for the maintenance, development and review of the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). The Irish Government established QQI in 2012 by the Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Act 2012 as an agency of the Department of Education and Skills.

National Framework of Qualifications Logo

As an accredited provider of programmes leading to QQI awards, Velopi’s courses are aligned to the Irish National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) and the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).

Established in 2003, the Irish National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) describes qualifications in terms of what learners know, understand and are able to do. It also sets out qualification pathways from one NFQ level to the next.

The NFQ gives employers, education providers and learners a simple, transparent frame of reference for qualifications in Ireland. Qualifications that are part of the Irish NFQ are assigned an EQF level - the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) which is designed to support cross-border mobility of learners and workers within the EU by allowing qualifications gained in any European country to be classified and compared under a simple eight level system.

European Qualifications Framework LogoAs an accredited provider of programmes leading to QQI awards, Velopi’s courses are aligned to the Irish National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) and the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).

The European Qualifications Framework (EQF) acts as a translation device to help communication and comparison between qualifications systems across Europe, promoting workers' and learners' mobility between countries and facilitating their lifelong learning. The EQF aims to relate different countries' national qualifications systems to a common European reference framework. Its eight common European reference levels are described in terms of learning outcomes: knowledge, skills and competences. This allows any national qualifications systems, national qualifications frameworks (NQFs) and qualifications in Europe to relate to the EQF levels. Learners, graduates, providers and employers can use these levels to understand and compare qualifications awarded in different countries and by different education and training systems. Since 2012, all new qualifications issued in Europe carry a reference to an appropriate EQF level.
